May is National Bike Month, a campaign sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists that encourages people to embrace pedal-powered vehicles to exercise, travel to work and help the environment. Some wonderful places here in the Phoenix area are South Mountain Park, the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, and Papago Park. Go get some fresh air!!!
Topia, an original ballet created by Artistic Director Ib Andersen, fuses nature and dance. Again this year, the ballet will be performed in an outdoor desert venue on an 80-foot panoramic stage. Andersen’s brilliant choreography is set to the music of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6. In 2012 Ballet Arizona performed Topia to sell-out crowds at the Garden.
If you have warm fuzzy feelings for fruit, head to Schnepf Farms for its annual peach festival. Visitors to the harvest celebration can pluck fresh peaches from a tree, polish off a plate of peach topped pancakes, and purchase peach products. Thru May 27th.
